duneworldcollective:

Here are some of the prop models for the Duneworld’s upcoming title “Over My Dead Body.” As you can see here we have various office and mechanical equipment pieces to benefit the look and feel of the industrial setting of the game. All of them being very low polygon count.

This set of models were made by both Evan Hiltz and myself.

In any case be on the look out for these elements and more in “Over My Dead Body” and if you’re bored feel free to check out "VIDdEO" or any one of our past games.

I showed off some of the models for “Over My Dead Body” over at the Duneworld blog a few moments ago. Check ‘em out, yo!

The Sprites of "Over My Dead Body" Update.

duneworldcollective:

Hey, Alex here! I’m doing sprites for “Over My Dead Body.” The characters can face in a total of 8 directions. At first I thought I only had to make 5 and reverse the other 3, but I ended up wanting to at least redo the lighting/rips, and “on model” pose. Thank goodness the shading is very simple…

My good buddy Alex is doing the Sprite art (among other things) for the Duneworlds “Over My Dead Body” and he’s being kind enough to share what he has so far with the (Non-Dune) World.

Low Polygon count forklift model as a prop for the Duneworlds “OVER MY DEAD BODY.”

In the state in which this was rendered in it was roughly 1400 polygons. I was able to trim it down to less than 900 for the final in game model.

Made in Autodesk maya.

The Dune World Presents: "OVER MY DEAD BODY"

duneworldcollective:

imageOnce upon a time, in the future. The World is a bleak and dangerous place ruled by corporations. You are Noël Brody an underemployed scientist for Mortiga Consolidated. When your healthcare research is re-purposed as a weapon you protests are met with with violence. Having been experimented…

This is the project me and the Duneworld have cooking up for what looks like the next two months. I really think this is a solid concept and we just need to execute it the best that we can. The response on “VIDdEO” was pretty amazing so it’s kind of neat to be making something knowing that folk have expectations. I think folk will like what we have in the works though. Stay tuned for more “OVER MY DEAD BODY”

"VIDdEO" Reception? Crystal.

When we here at the DuneWorld Collective launched “VIDdEO" last week we would have never thought that it’d be received so well.

But here we are a week later and “VIDdEO” has been mentioned by PC Gamer on their “Best Free Games of The Week” column and was given a very kind video review…

Updated the DuneWorld with a thank you to the warm reception and exposure “VIDdEO” has been getting. Seriously, PC Gamer? That’s an amazing honor.

These are the prop models I made for the DuneWorld Collectives “VIDdEO.”

They were the majority of my contribution to the game and I spent a lot of time on them, the Magnum in particular. But in any case I felt that you never really got a good look at the models during gameplay so I rendered off this quick display. In hindsight I could have put more into some of them and I plan on making the magnum even better.

I hope you dig them, and be sure to be on the look out for more Duneworld.

"VIDdEO" A DuneWorld Collective Game is now on Gamejolt.

"You are combing through security footage to find out what has taken place in a hotel. However, the result is not clear. The perceived reality of the footage is blending into your own reality. You find yourself inside and outside the media discovering the tapes in the very place you are watching. Identities are disapearing, context is no longer existing. Nothing is sacred anymore, and you are constantly feeling dread and unawareness."

Original Concept by the Duneworlds own Alex and created in a month for the HGC Pageant.

Take her for a spin and have your mind blown perhaps?

"VIDdEO" The Duneworlds latest project is now finished and up on Gamejolt. Check it out and have a ball!

In regards to this, and this. I drew a Hank Hill.

"King of the Hill" is my favourite anime.

Still open to any/all suggestions.

mgherod asked: I think you should draw. Doesn't matter what it is. Don't do what I did and get so frustrated you stop making art. I spent more time worrying about HOW to draw and HOW "terrible" I am that I wasn't actually drawing.

I could definitely stand to do set aside more of my art time to just drawing. I don’t post much in the way of my own line drawings anywhere due to a lack of satisfaction in their quality I’ll admit. Which I suppose is counter-productive in that while I’m consciously trying to improve I very rarely get feedback from arty types.

I’ll find something or someone neat to draw and for better or for worse I’ll post it here.

Still open to any/all suggestions of course.

Just tired of everything right now.

Look, I just wrote a long ass post about how I’m exhausted by pretty much all of the crap that’s going on in my life and that I wanted to give up on my art.

But you know what? Fuck that noise. Deleted the post. No good feeling sorry for myself.

I don’t ask my followers of anything but their unspoken support. Tonight I’m gonna ask “What do you want me to do?”

Sculpt, model, draw, ETC. Anything, from Spider-Man to your OCs. Maybe a change of pace will get me out of this funk.

So, everyone come out and Shoot. If not I’ll probably just delete this post and move on.

July 21st, 2014 Updates

duneworldcollective:

Hey, it’s Dave here bringing you a couple of updates of what we’ve been up to for the past week or two.

-First of all, as you may or may not have noticed we have a new Logo and have changed up our set up quite a bit. All credit for this goes to our very own Alex.

-The Duneworld Collective is…

Shiny new Duneworld update, check it out sports fans!

Legend of Korra Fan art on TheMindHut

A “Legend of Korra” fan piece I made a few years back was featured on TheMindHut, admittedly it’s not a piece I’ve grown to be fond of but I can take a compliment.

For those who prefer Vimeo as their demo reel watching location of choice!

Cut Together a new modeling reel over the past few days. It’s largely made from stills and old camera renders due to my laptop’s limited rendering ability but I don’t think that necessarily prohibits a good reel from being cut. I may still play with this a bit before sending it out to studios but I think it’s both clear and consistent while showing off what I like about much of my work and those are important things to do in any reel.

Done using: Autodesk Maya, After effects, ZBrush, and photoshop.

All assets were created by myself.

Modeling some things for the next Duneworld game project “VIDdEO.”

This model being of course an old Cassette Tape. Going for a 1980’s kind of vibe so there’s going to be thematically similar models and atmosphere.

All in all this is a pretty simple model that I jazzed up with a nice Toon outline effect. The final product will be textured.

Done in Autodesk Maya.
