July 21st, 2014 Updates

duneworldcollective:

Hey, it’s Dave here bringing you a couple of updates of what we’ve been up to for the past week or two.

-First of all, as you may or may not have noticed we have a new Logo and have changed up our set up quite a bit. All credit for this goes to our very own Alex.

-The Duneworld Collective is…

Shiny new Duneworld update, check it out sports fans!

Legend of Korra Fan art on TheMindHut

A “Legend of Korra” fan piece I made a few years back was featured on TheMindHut, admittedly it’s not a piece I’ve grown to be fond of but I can take a compliment.

For those who prefer Vimeo as their demo reel watching location of choice!

Cut Together a new modeling reel over the past few days. It’s largely made from stills and old camera renders due to my laptop’s limited rendering ability but I don’t think that necessarily prohibits a good reel from being cut. I may still play with this a bit before sending it out to studios but I think it’s both clear and consistent while showing off what I like about much of my work and those are important things to do in any reel.

Done using: Autodesk Maya, After effects, ZBrush, and photoshop.

All assets were created by myself.

Modeling some things for the next Duneworld game project “VIDdEO.”

This model being of course an old Cassette Tape. Going for a 1980’s kind of vibe so there’s going to be thematically similar models and atmosphere.

All in all this is a pretty simple model that I jazzed up with a nice Toon outline effect. The final product will be textured.

Done in Autodesk Maya.

Been seeing some awesome images rendered in the medium of 1x1 LEGO Bricks recently.

This being digital is far less impressive but I thought to try something a little different and create a stud like effect for simple images starting on a smaller 15x15 grid.

There’s a few funky things going on that I’m not fond of but If I explore this more I’ll try to chase them out.

I used an image of Ryan Gosling as the base of the piece.

Modeled my old Camcorder in my down time this week. I think with this alongside my headphones and watch model with my already large portfolio of character models I can render off a new modelling reel shortly.

Siesta-Rena: Voting has started

duneworldcollective:

This is just a friendly reminder that official voting has started for the RPGmaker contest. We encourage all of you to give our game “Siesta-Rena” a shot and to vote for it and maybe even reblog it here on Tumblr if you enjoyed yourself.

We appreciate any and all support and thank you all in advance

-Dave-

That’s right, voting for the contest has started. Check out the link, give her a play and vote if you enjoyed our game. Any and all support will be appreciated. Spread the word!

Happy Canada Day Internet!

Nothing planned for the day so I thought to experiment with cloth simulation. Have been at Maya for three years now but had yet to do much experimentation with nCloth and nDynamics and decided to make it patriotic. Went off of a solid tutorial I found on Youtube and I think it turned out fairly well. Going to experiment with it some more eventually.

But in any case, I wish a Happy Canada Day to all of my fellow Canucks and happy Tuesday to pretty much everyone else!

Siesta-Rena

I get the feeling I’ll misspell the game’s name at some point.

Game we made in a month for the Indie Game Making Contest 2014. More like the last week considering our usual lax scheduling at first.

Check out the contest entry HERE

If there are any game breaking bugs or problems please contact duneworldcollective@gmail.com

"Siesta-Rena" is now complete. Ultimately it is a short and sometimes difficult little adventure/RPG hybrid but I think it turned out splendidly and achieved what we anted out of it. That in itself is a great accomplishment as an artist and creator. I am truly proud of this little game and I hope all those who give it a shot enjoy themselves. Download and Vote in the contest if you wish, And thank you in advance.

Environment/Backdrop sample for “Siesta-Rena” As you can see it’s a simple camp ground with two tents and a fire pit. Many aspects of this are still going to be played around with but it should come more to life with Alex’s Sprite art as well as the musical stylings of Michael Easton.
Models and textures by me, Layout by Alex.

A little teaser of something you’re going to see in the Duneworld Collective’s newest prototype “Siesta-Rena” stay tuned folks, we’re hoping to have it working by this time next week.

Logo for the Dune World’s current game project “Siesta-Rena.”
"Siesta-Rena" is going to be a puzzle game demo throwback to top-down perspective adventure games like classic Legend of Zelda and various RPGs. You play as a Sandman going into people’s dreams and solving puzzles in order to quash their worries and give them a good sleep.
Once again we’re hoping to have a working demo by the end of the month to share with you all.
More updates will come as we complete assets and reach our deadline. Feel free to check back and ask any questions you have about the game.
